Cowboys, Knight, and other NFL Mus
The Cowboys Are in Trouble --------------------------
The 0-2 start for the Cowboys is alarming. Teams that start in the hole stay in the hole.
Their 32-31 loss to the Cardinals continues their sorry road record. Dallas only got one road win last year and that was opening day at Washington.
Mike Zimmer is the new defensive coordinator and he'll start feeling some heat because this team is just not scaring any quarterbacks.
Jerry Jones is trying to spin this...again. Jones was saying after the game that the Cowboys climbed out of an 0-2 start seven years ago to win the Super Bowl.
This just in Jerry...that team had two good corners, a great pass rusher, the top defense in the NFL, and a 24-year old Emmitt Smith. Oh yeah, some guy named Jimmy Johnson was on the sidelines.
In 2000, the Cowboys have a sad pass rush, suspect secondary, a quarterback with numberous concussions, and a 31-year old running back. Plus, a first year head coach is on the sidelines.
Redskins Lose Receiver ----------------------
Washington lost wide receiver Michael Westbrook of for the season with a torn ACL. This makes them a very human team.
Albert Connell is now the top target, but I don't think of him as the man. Makes you wonder if they should have drafted Peter Warrick instead of LaVar Arrington.
Newy's Sleeper Awakens ----------------------
I said I love Detroit as my sleeper pick. The Lions are 2-0 and they haven't scored an offensive touchdown. So, what. They beat the Redskins at home with five Jason Hanson field goals.
The Lions defense has been outstanding. They forced Brad Johnson into four interceptions. They are a very good team.
I say it because of head coach, Bobby Ross. He went to a Super Bowl with less talent in 1994. The Chargers were an OK team. Ross won a national championship at Georgia Tech. Can you name two players off that team? Didn't think so.
Bobby Knight Did It Again -------------------------
Britney Spears sang that pop tune, "Opps, I Did It Again". Well so did Bobby Knight and now he's out of work.
Indiana should have fired their coach back in May once they saw he choked Neil Reed on videotape.
Well numerous incidents and the alleged grabbing of a student send Knight on his way.
Don't give me that "zero tolerance policy" stuff. So what if it sounds vague. Knight knew if he passed gass he could be in trouble. Bottom line, he got a second chance he didn't deserve and blew it
