Notes From Cowboy Camp

Here's a few notes from Day 3 at Cowboy Camp

1. Erik Williams Is Thinking About Retiring

It's not that bad, yet. If Williams is gonna skip town, Solomon Page will take his slot. Just who is Solomon Page?

He was a guy with first round talent two years ago. At 6-4 and 321 he can play. Dave Campo recently told the media Page was his best athlete. When a player can switch between guard and tackle, he has ability.

Williams apparently told Jerry Jones his heart was not in football last week. Gee, why wait until it's almost camp time?

Jones says it's not about money. Williams could earn as much as 5 million this year.

2. Wane McGarity Can't Catch

We were trying to fill a story with video of Former Texas receiver Wane McGarity last night. The kid just drop ball after ball in practice. This has been an ongoing thing.

I look for the Longhorn to be long gone before camp ends. He can't catch. The Cowboys will keep six recievers.

Let's count, 1. Joey Galloway 2. Rocket Ismail 3. James McKnight 4. Jason Tucker 5. Chris Brazell
6. Jeff Ogden (if he can get healthy)

3. Kevin Smith Is Getting Burned...A Lot

Wane can't catch and Kevin Smith can't cover. Smith is the other corner expected to start along side Deion Sanders replacement, Ryan McNeil.

Smith was once one of the best corners in the league.
That all changed on a Monday Night in 1995. Dallas opened the season at Giants Stadium and Smith ruptured his right Achilles tendon and missed the entire Super Bowl season.

Smith has never been the same. Now at 30, he's lost a step and it shows in practice each day. Defensive coordinator, Mike Zimmer, admitted as much on Day 3 of camp.
