Cowboys Get Ready

Monday was just an arrival day for the players.
They unloaded all the camp essentials. The TV's, CD
players, Sega games, clothes, and other items they
will need the next few weeks.

Tuesday at 9 A.M. they start going for real. The
Cowboys have so many mini camps, they never really
fall out of shape.

It's time to hit and go full speed. This time of
the year teams want to work on getting down offensive
and defensive gameplans.

The offense needs to get their timing down. From
the offensive line understanding the line calls and
blocking assignments to the receivers learning how to
run routes that produce big plays.

The biggest work has to come on defense. You can't
just lose Deion Sanders and think you are better. You
don't get rid of Hall of Fame players and think you're
better off.

The Dallas fans may think so, but no way. I really
think the secondary is their biggest question. Ryan
McNeil is not Deion. The nickel and dime packages (5
and 6 defensive backs) need to be worked out.

The linebacking corps is not set. I will be looking
at that during practices. And don't forget defensive
lineman, Dimitrius Underwood. He was the player
drafted in the first round by Minnesota. They cut him,
thenhe signed on with the Dolphins. He wasn't
mentally ready and he was released.

The Cowboys feel he can help them and they think
Underwood can be a surprise if he can stay hungry on
the field and mentally healthy off it.
