Perez Special Sinks Dodgers

Only the Dodgers can make me this mad. They go from being in a position to win Game 3 in Montreal to dropping it and losing Game 4.

They needed that Game 3 because Thursday was a Carlos Perez Special. You know, when Perez serves up his own brand of batting practice. When his 86 mph fastball helps fellow major leaguers react their contract incentives.

The Dodgers got nailed with a 11-3 loss. Perez gave up five runs in the second inning alone. Eight of the 11 runs the Expos got were off Perez.

Bottom line, he can't pitch anymore! Perez has the security of a a 12.5 million dollar contract. The kind of deal that could hurt GM Kevin Malone if the Dodgers don't make the playoffs.

Overall, this road trip went from great to alright. They needed to take 3 or 4 games. A split is alright. These are the Expos. They should be laying the smack down on this team. Instead, Carl Pavno is picking up wins with a eight inning performance.

Lakers En Fuego

30 wins in their last 31 games. The Lakers are not a basketball team, they are a machine.

Next year they will be a better club. Mark my words, Phil Jackson will make changes. Unless Glen Rice comes up with an unbelievable playoff performance, he will move on.

If PJ wins the ring, he'll win the ear of owner Jerry Buss. Imagine if the Lakers had Scottie Pippen right now?

This season, Jackson couldn't get everything he wanted. Next year, count on Jackson being able to bring in the players he covets. That could spell doom for Derek Fisher.

I love Fish, he's a great guy. But he's had a bad season. He's got a high contract, but I doubt Phil will want him back if he can be traded.

Shaq and Kobe have found a comfort level with each other. Credit Jackson again.

He's the biggest signing for the Lakers since Shaq came to town! His value is so high. It's like having Bill Parcells on the sidelines.

NCAA Tournament Slipping

Michigan State may have won the national championship in college hoops, but America didn't really care.

CBS drew a 14.1 rating for the title game. That is the lowest rating for the network since they started broadcasting the NCAA's back in 1982.

The whole tournament was down with viewers. It was 6.4, a new all time low.

Joke about my love for the Tar Heels, but American wants to see the big names. UCLA, Kentucky, Duke, Michigan's Fab Five, hey, that's what America wants to see. Not three kids from Flint, Michigan and no names from a football school like Florida.

In L.A., the Sunday Laker-Knick game got more veiwers than the Spartans championship win. Personally, I didn't watch the game live. I went to Raw is War at Staples Center. Then I watched it on tape. Hey, The Rock was in town!!

More NFL Talk

The NFL will not come out and root for Los Angeles, but they want football back.

The Coliseum is looking at talking to prospective owners about relocation. I expect Ed Roski to be the point man on the project.

The Arizona Cardinals will not get the state money they want for a new domed stadium. The state asked them to chip in over 150 million. They said no.

The Raiders still want back in the city. The Saints are prowling around and the Vikings still don't have a deal in Minnesota.

The NFL will return to Los Angeles. It's only a matter of time.
