Super Bowl Thoughts
Ray Lewis Doesn't Go to Disney World
---------------------------------------------------------
Usually the Super Bowl MVP yells, "I'm going to Disney World" into the camera for a promo and heads to Orlando the next day. This year's MVP was Ray Lewis and the Disney folks didn't want him to come. In fact, Wheaties cereal didn't want Lewis either. A group of Ravens were put on the box and Lewis was not among them.
Ray Lewis' legal history will cost him tons of cash on Madison Avenue.
Memo, Raven quarterback Trent Dilfer went to Disney World.
Kerry Collins Was Tough
-------------------------------------
Kerry Collins took some shots down the field and was picked off a few times. Collins tied the record for interceptions with four. After the game he said, "In the biggest game of the year, on the biggest stage there is, I sucked. It's as simple as that."
Collins is being too harsh on himself.. Now he didn't play his best game, but the Giants offensive line was just garbage. Collins had a man in his face all day. The kid played the game with a broken shoulder too.
The Giants couldn't run the football. Collins will not beat a team with his arm alone. He needs the threat of a running game. The quarterbacking in the game was subpar. But we all knew this coming in.
The Best Defense of All Time?
--------------------------------------------
The Ravens can throw out whatever stats they want. They are better than the ' 85 Bears. But the ' 74 Steelers. That's tough. The best defense in my opinion for one year is the 1972 Miami Dolphins.
The didn't LOSE a single game. If you don't lose, you are the best. 17games and not one single offense could put more points on the board. Bob Griese was 8 for 11 for 88 yards with 1 touchdown pass and one interception.
The Dolphins won Super Bowl VII 14-7. The Dolphins defense didn't give up an offensive touchdown.
5 Quickies
1-Trent Dilfer will not start for the Ravens next fall.
2-The Giants will not play in Super Bowl XXXVI.
3-Defensive Coordinator Marvin Lewis will be missed after he takes the Buffalo job.
4-Don't be surprised if the Saints are in Super Bowl XXXVI.
5-Jason Sehorn is a little bit overhyped.
Carolina Basketball
Tar Heels win at Duke...Nuff said.
Oh yeah, thanks for wearing the Carolina hat Greg Buckner. Never bet the Newdawg against the Heels.
