Q) Do those nice people in the white coats know you've been out of your padded cell this long? Man, for the first time in my life I'm ashamed of being from Fort Worth. Stephen Woods Waco, TX

 --narradora@hot.rr.com

A) Maybe those people in white coats should help Baylor find a football coach and a program that can back up it's tough talk.

27-0 to TCU in Fort Worth!

Ouch.

Q) Your article was ridiculous. Stick with TV, as bad as print is these days, it still manages to retain a meager portion of objectiveness (yes, even in editorials). See Jim Reeves article on Patterson lying. I know, I know, bring confident about what you are going to do in a game is much, much worse than flat out lying to the entire world, but still, he's a kid. And it's interesting that you'd say it would take divine intervention for Baylor to win this game, yet the FWST comparison has basically every position group "Even". Just curious, do you and Tommy Blake share an agent?

 --bruinbold@hotmail.com

A) It's not an "article", it is a column.

Ever read the part above the headline that says, "In My Opinion"? That's what it is, my opinion. My take on how I see Baylor.

Baylor talks so much and delivers so little. They proved it again Saturday night in Ft. Worth by getting drilled 27-0.

FYI, Tommy Blake can't have an agent, it's against NCAA rules.

Q) Do me a favor after Baylor wins...write an article about how TCU was reading their own press clippings and looking ahead to Texas while a Baylor team that was tired of getting bad mouthed by everyone decided in the offseason that they would not lose to TCU again and followed through by winning the game. scott davis

 --scottldavis79@yahoo.com

A) Let's see, TCU 27 Baylor 0.

I don't think I need to say much more.

Q) Newy, read you all the time and enjoy it. But your column on the deplorable Michael Vick today had what I really hope you tell me was a mis-statement on your part or a bad turn of a phrase. About 2/3rds of the way down the column as it appeared in the Star-Telegram you wrote "Once Vick decided to become one of the faces of the NFL he should have dropped all involvement with dogfighting". That sentence can lead one to multiple conclusions as ti your meaning: 1) If Vick didn't "decide" to be a face of the NFL, it would have been okay to continue. Or, 2) Breaking the law and dogfighting is okay for regular people. Or, 3) It's okay to break the law at any time. Surely, Newy, you didn't mean what you wrote in any context. Surely you meant "Vick should NEVER have been involved in any illegal activity ESPECIALLY one as detestable and deplorable as dogfighting!". Please tell me that's what you meant. Frank May

 --mayfare15@aol.com

A) If you read enough of the stories you'll see Vick probably was into dogfighting before he got to the NFL. Vick's own father is claiming this.

I'm not saying dogfighting is right, it's illegal and I can't stand the thought of people making dogs do this, but once he got to the NFL he needed to stop because he was now a public figure with responsibility.

Q) Great article on Saturday, August 25, 2007. You said what many have been thinking, and you got away with it. Good job. Wrong is wrong is everyone is wrong, and right is right if no one is right. And color of skin, the last I heard, doesn't determine wrong or right. Great job!!! Chris Lutz

 --christinelutz@verizon.net

A) Thanks.

Q) I commend you for a common sense article on Vick – well written and fair!

 --tomwright@sbcglobal.net

A) Thank you.

Q) Terrell Owens is just another example of the black athlete that does not think that team's rules and society's laws apply to them. From Bonds, to PacMan, to Johnson, to T.O., the list is endless, and now Michael Vick, these worthless scum are the reason there is and always will be racism in this country. The color of their skin is not the problem and is not the issue as most blacks like to use as an excuse and an alibi, it is the baggage that the comes with most blacks in this country. From, Dale Hansen

 --jimsand1972@sbcglobal.net

A) This email is another classic example of small minds who like to email me.

Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan are examples of people who think laws do not apply to them.

There are times the Bush Administration has acted as if the laws of the land do not apply to them.

Wrestler Chris Benoit killed his son and his wife before taking his own life. I'll never understand a man who can kill his own child.

There are countless members of society, that do things we can not stand. These acts are not limited to black athletes.

Racism was prevalent in America long before blacks were paid to play sports.

Q) Right on about Brian Bonner. I too was inspired. I hope the same thing. And, hopefully, they can get Tommy Blake back and make it a season to remember. Somehow, I imagine that Bonner might be the one to get him to return. -- Todd E. Jones

 -- todd@toddejones.net

A) Bonner is a good kid and he should have a strong season.
