Q)
Newy I called in the show for the first time yesterday, April 1st. I was the last caller and took Chuck's quiz and got the answer right. I did not get to make my point about us Longhorn fans. The real answer, in my opinion, is there is no excuse. I have made the trip a couple times this year to watch the Horns play. This team did not come out of no where and should sell out every home game, especially with the non-conference, and conference schedule they play. But when you get 35,000 fans at a Spring Game, I guess that makes life hard on the b-ball program. I love the show and hope to get a response when you get the chance. Take care. KEEP RICK BARNES away from the tar heels!

I think you guys have something special in Rick Barnes. Just do whatever it takes to keep him.
He wants you guys to show up and cheer like it's the last game of the year.
Rick is from North Carolina. He would make a great Tar Heel head coach.

Newy,
I don't have a question. Just wanted to tell that I was listening to another radio station this morning and Kristin Holt of "American Idol" said the she loves the In and Out Burgers!
Just thought that you would get a kick out of this.

Hey,
Where was the outrage when Zero U went to the Final Four last year even those they averaged only a couple of hundred more fans then “the worst fans in the Big XII”.
I agree Texas fans are horrible in Austin. I’ve griped about this for years. In fact, I would say that most football fans in the stands come from Dallas and Houston (which might be part of the basketball problem). However, it seems that you’re much more quick to jump on Texas then other schools. Again, if OU beat Syracuse and Texas lost to MSU, would this even be a topic?
By the way, Texas did sellout several games. Attendance and sellouts are two different things. If the Mavs / Stars used turnstile count, a lot of games wouldn’t have “soldout”. That being said, there is still no excuse, (especially concerning the students).
Anyway, great show and I enjoying listening to ya’ll.
Please no more baseball games during the Big Show!!!!!

You are right. OU fans stink about showing up too.
But this is about you Jason. The Longhorn Fan not showing up.
Don't point up north. Look at the man in the mirror!!

New Dawg... how 'bout them longhorns? Do you think they can win the NCAA championship this year? Do you believe that it will be an all Big 12 final? Keep up the good work. Thanks.

I really like the Horns chances. They have the best mix to win it all.
Rick Barnes would look good as the new North Carolina head coach. He is from Hickory, NC!!!

Q)
New Dawg, if American Airlines goes out of business will the AAC be renamed?
Do you think that Bob Knight in giving back his salary this season may be
angling for another gig, we know that the UCLA and Georgia jobs will be
open, do you think that Knight will be looking to maybe take another gig at
a more prominent university?

The folks at American Airlines will remain in business. I'm not worried about that.
Bob Knight is not going to UCLA. They don't want to deal with his temper and he likes being away from the spotlight. Lubbock is a great city to do it.
Knight is loyal. Ohio State tried to hire him many times before and he said no. Heck, he played hoops for the Buckeyes.
The folks at Tech gave him a second chance and he's not going to leave them.
I like former Hawks coach, Lon Kruger, at UGA. He took Florida to the Final Four and knows the league and the area.

Q)
Who would you choose to start a franchise now, Dirk Nowitzki or Chris Webber?
They play in the teams with the best depth in the NBA, but Chris Webber' team has a better post player.
Who would you choose and why?

A)
Give me Chris Webber. He can do it on both ends of the floor. That's what MVP type guys do.
Webber has played in the league longer, so he should be better.
I'd take Kevin Garnett over both of them.

Newy,
Never imagined I email you but I wanted to let you
know that I appreciate the perspective you bring to
the local sports scene. You definately add much
needed flavor and insight. When you moved from L.A. I
recall my uncle calling me to let me know. Now I
understand why he felt compelled to do this. There
are few blacks in the business but your work and
opinions speak for itself. The sly crack Cuban stated
earlier in the week about the ratings just goes to
show you that when people have nothing else better to
say they pull straws. He was really was reaching.
Everyone suffers by comparison to The Ticket by nature
of their longevity but you guys are well on your way.
Good luck and you do have a following. I'm a season
ticket holder at TCU for the FB games and saw you on
the field this season and didn't want to stop you and
come across as a jocker.
Props to you and keep doing what you're doing on the
radio and TV.

David,
Thanks so much for the kind words. The folks in LA really treated me well. It's been fun going to TCU games and just hanging out watching. I don't live far from campus so it's a great way to watch some big time Top 25 football.

Newy - When Sacramento beat the Mavericks with last second shots your
posture was that the better team prevailed and I agree. But the Mavs
are not far behind. Basically, the last 3 games have been decided in
the last 10 seconds of Regulation - one with a banked three, one with an
air ball rebound, and one with a rare MF offensive rebound and Steve's
three.
Just don't say that Sac won because they are good and the Mavs won
because they were lucky. There is enough greatness and luck to go
around. It was just our turn.

I give the Mavericks full marks for the win.
I still think the Kings are a better team in a 7-game series. They can play any kind of way the Mavs want and they rebound.
