Q) Love the show, even if you all don't ever reply to my e-mails. One of which one you stated the Mavs and Blazers would go to game 7 but I digress. The problem with the Mavs is they are not the big three, they are the big one with two other good but not great players in Nash and the declining Finley. Finley did not deserve to make the all-star team and at this point in his career plays a few years older than he is as witnessed by the fact he has become a jump shooting two guard. He is still good and almost deserved to make the all-star team but he is not a top 25 type player in this league and I don't think there is any team in the NBA that he would be the best player on that team. Nash is a great regular season point guard who apparently has failed to learn the art of pacing himself. He his not a top 5 point guard in the NBA, and is barely a top 5 point guard in the West. In fact, if the Mavs were in a game 7 and I had to pick between Nash and Van Exel my decision would easily be Van Exel so I guess you can say he might not be the best point guard on his own team. Nowitzki is of course greatness, but even he is not a member of the elite 5 of Shaq, Kobe, T-Mac, KG and Duncan. So, in my opinion Nelson is a very good coach to get 60 wins out of this team and should be brought back next year. Now, Nelson the GM is another topic but all in all I think he is a poor GM. Yes he got Dirk, but passed on Pierce. Yes he got Nash, but traded the pick for Marion so I consider those deals a wash. Meanwhile he got nothing for Jamal Mashburn or Sam Cassell and of course the Raef Lafrentz trade and contract, and Bradley and Eschmeyer deals should hang over this franchise for quite some time. Take heart however, game 7's are great. Michael Flower Mound, TX

A) And folks who call into the Big Show on ESPN 103.3 FM call Chuck and I negative.

Michael gets the Mr. Gloom and Doom award!!!

Q) Howard would come back, last here he came back and watched most of the playoff games in the stands. If your bitter at a team (our friend Tim) you don't do that.

 --John Olchak, Allen, TX

A) I'd love to see Juwan Howard back with the Mavericks, but I don't know. It's a great question.

I'll have to check on it.

Q) an old adage more than a 3-4 point loss is a players lost. Less than a 3-4 point loss is a coaches lost. I am shocked beyond believe that not one single press person asked the question to Nellie, Why was Steve Nash in the game in the last 5 min of the 4th quarter and Michael Finley on the Bench, how can a 6-2 guard a 6-9 person(Scottie). Even if Finley was not shooting well, his defense is far more, I mean far more superior than Steve. And also why was Steve handling the ball and Nick was not? Since Nick kept us in the game in the 3rd and fourth? too many questions...one answer --bad coaching.....'nuff said! Best Regards Vash

 --kobad desai, plano, TX

A) Nash has been terrible in 4 of the 5 playoff games. Finley must not be 100%.
And I feel your pain about Nellie. He is taking a beating from the fans.

Q) I did not understand why nelson did not bring bradley in during the time when nowitski was shooting the last free throws, While porland was bringing the ball up I kept screaming at my tv who is going to get the REBOUND And I'll be damned if it wasn't sabonis, I know bradley is pretty terrible but he might have tipped the ball or something-once again Nelson gets caught up with offense over defense late in another game. Larry

A) Another hit from the fans about Nellie's coaching.

Q) Hi Guys: Love your show.....What is the problem with the Mavs? You will think I am crazy, but one of the biggest problems is Nick The Quick!!!!! I realize he scored 24 or so but he killed the Mavs down the stretch. He thinks he has to do it all... I agree with you that the offense needs to go through Dirk, especially down the stretch. . He has touch the ball every time down when the game is on the line.... When Nick get the ball his first option is to shoot....his second is....shoot.. and finally his third is to shoot!!! When the Mavs were up 8 with 3 minutes to go Nick takes 2 three's in a row without passing to anyone(using options 1,2 and 3), missing both and Portland scores 5 putting them down 3 and the rest is history. Nick has done a good job for the Mavs this year but he has to get the message that he is not the Mavs savior. I have not heard anyone discuss this, what do you think.. I would have loved to talk to you guys about this but I knew I would probably not get through Look forward to hearing from you. Paul (Andy) Anderson Dallas

A) Rebounding is the problem. You can point to Nick, but I look at the fact they can't rebound against this club in their losses.

Q) If Nelly was a good coach towards the end of a game with a lead he would tell them no 3 pointers take it to the hole or give it to Dirk or you come out the game. p.s. the 100 million dollar man needs to get some nuts

 --gary allen, bedford, TX

A) Your take is noted!

Q) Newy, I am on the line right now but in case I don't get in. I listen to you guys everyday but today I needed to be a participant instead of a spectator. I was at the game last night and watched the Mavericks and I saw something that as a former coach made me sick to my stomach. On three separate occasions and maybe more, I saw Raef and Shawn make no attempt to even cross half court on the play. How can you help your team on the boards or otherwise if you are to lazy to even get on the same side of the court that the game is being played? Secondly, Nelson got out coached last night. His own team did even have a sense of the rhythm or lack of substitution patterns throughout the game. How can you have Finley on the bench almost the entire 4th quarter while Stoudamire and the other Jail Blazer guards are going ballistic. If I am not mistaken the Jail Blazer guards out rebound our bigs who are really not all that big. The Mavs broke my heart last night because they did not show a lot of heart at all. I love them in a big way but they lack mental toughness. Some of the Mavs just want to be to "cool" They need to get cool aid out of their veins and fine the stuff that champions are made of. They may win the series, I hope and pray that they do but the Kings will be waiting to blow a whole in the Mavs the side of the grand canyon because when they had a chance to make a statement and go in strong, they will back in just like they backed into the play off. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Velda M. Turnley

 --gary allen, bedford, TX

A) Wow. Strong words. Oh by the way, they still just need 1 win.

Q) Whats up Dawg What do you think about this trade scenario. The trade worked out on Realgm.com, but what's your opinion?. Finley, Nick, Raef, and Eschmeyer for KG, Anthony Peeler, and Troy Hudson. Then maybe they could pick up someone like Dale Davis or Theo Ratliff in free agency. This would limit Big Shawn's minutes to about twenty, and just like you said, that's how the Mavs could get the best out of him.

 --gary allen, bedford, TX

A) I don't know if Minnesota would do it. I really don't know where they are with KG's contract yet. We'd have to wait until the offseason and how the season ends for both teams.

They will get a big man. PJ Brown should be #1 on the list.
