Has there been any talk about moving Roy to linebacker? His playing weight has to be 230lbs. I mean the guy has the size and speed to play the weakside and he's never been one to shy away from contact.
Also have you heard anything on the wide receiver rumors that Dallas may trade one of it's first round picks to Detroit for the other Roy or that they may be interested in Chad Johnson?

A)
Solid questions Joe.
The Cowboys have no plans to make Roy a linebacker. He's gonna have to get back to his old form or he'll be elsewhere in 2009.
The club plans to work on some things with Roy in the OTA's.
I don't see the Bengals trading Chad Johnson. They have paid him over 20 million the last two years and old school owner Mike Brown is not just going to let him get away.
Let's say the Bengals did trade Chad for a 1st round draft pick. Are they a better football club? No.
They won't get equal quality. You saw that with Minnesota when they traded Randy Moss to the Raiders and you saw the Raiders get zero for Moss when they shipped him to New England.
The Lions have no reason to move Roy Williams yet.

I like your mock draft -- The Chiefs love Branden Albert & I believe he'll be a Top 10 pick! The Ravens drafted mammoth tackle Jared Gaither in the supplemental draft last season, so he'll step in for Ogden. They'll go CB. Devin Thomas #12? That's pretty high! I enjoy all your work. Thanks and take care

I will come out with a new mock this week. I wanted to get one out. I'll follow up with a 2.0 by Wednesday.

Newy - Long time no talk. What areas of need do you think the Cowboys will address with their 1st 3 picks? My mock has them taking RB Felix Jones (#22), WR Devin Thomas (#28), and CB Tracy Porter (#61)....I know Thomas is vastly moving up draft boards, but late 1st is where I have him. If they can get him it will make up for not drafting Dwayne Bowe last year. Of course Pac Man Jones situation dictated my mock. I think Porter is a very good value pick in Rd 2 & will be an upgrade over any nickel CB's Dallas has had in the past. Thanks!

Johnny!!!! I miss you man!! I think Devin Thomas will be gone by the 28th pick. Jones is good at 22. I really like that.
Porter could be nice at 61 as well. Good stuff. As always.

Not a question but just wanted to say "finally" someone else who isn't afraid to admit that TCU basketball is an afterthought. Maybe someone should forewarn any potential new coach before his life gets ruined like Coach Dougherty's almost did. Fortunately the man is full of class and intelligence. He'll do well anywhere. TCU is impossible to coach at. It's all about football.

TCU has work to do in mens hoops. Some fans don't want to hear that.
The school has a tremendous football program, but the hoops side of things for the men has been bad.
Some games they didn't even have a band in the stands. Some promotions to get students to the games would help. They could upgrade the schedule and bring in some high profile teams.
They need better players. Right now players aren't coming to play for the Frogs.
They have work to do. I hope they get it done.

Dawg,
Its been a while since I've been here but I was coming back to the "Master" for some help. In the past few years I did not listen to you when it came tourney time and it bit me in the butt on my brackets. For 2 out of 3 years I plugged your picks in our pool and you were at the top. My question is are you willing to post your picks? I will give you all the credit if I make it in the money and willing to share if the stakes are high enough! I can't listen to you on the radio any more to get schooled from the NewDawg. And yes I have to say it...The afternoons are still not the same without you and the Coop.

Be glad you didn't get picks from me. I was horrible. I only have one Final Four team.

With these two coaches we knocked on the door and got a playoff game. We are now going to continue on with them and a more battle tested team of good young players. My half full glass tells me with a better running back to go with Barber and a new cornerback for depth we can go thru that door next season. Yes JJ is a JERK and a dumb ass, but we all know that.

Maybe a focused group of coaches and players will get better in 2008.
It will be hard to top 13-3 and the top seed in the NFC. That just doesn't happen very often.

"It's like letting your mistress stay in the guest room"
That's gotta be one of the best lines of the season
Had to laugh out loud.
But you are a little hard on Jerry considering the alternative of
letting Garrett go OR going ahead and replacing Wade at this point.
I do believe Jerry had to make a choice of 3 alternatives, all of which were bad.
I guess in the rarified air of salaries these guys make, I don't know how Wade
can be a loser considering he will pull down about 6-Million Bucks for his two
years in Dallas. Much more than us work-a-day guys will make in a lifetime of toil.
Even if Wade is gone after 2008, just like Parcells, he will leave town with a pocket
full of money to spend in his retirement. I should be such a loser. Besides Newy, I
don't know how we can continue to blame Jerry for the 12-year drought considering
Bill Parcells had 4-years here with lots of power and good players and still didn't win a playoff game.

Thanks for the email. You don't see championship clubs going about their business like the Cowboys. Maybe that is why they can't win a playoff game.

Q)
i.e. the Garrett raise
This is EXACTLY what is needed!
The defense didn't look to good at all this year.
Maybe the Garrett situation will get "ah shucks" off his ass and do something about it!
While the offense may have trailed off some, the defense LOST to the Giants and Redskins!!!!
You need to come out of the last decade and see the future!
-- Waynedcwbys@aol.com

You may want to check your facts on the defense before you bash them.
They held three teams without touchdowns this year. The Rams, Bills, and Jets.
The Redskins game in December was a collective loss by both sides of the football.
In the playoff game, they held the Giants to a touchdown in the second half. That should have been enough to win the game, but the offense could never get going. Drops passes, false starts, and bad pass protections doomed the team.
The offense took a nose dive in December and was outplayed by the defense. Jason Garrett has to take responsibility for that.
