Q) Big Dog, my name is Zak NAJERA (I don't know if there is a relation or not)but any way at the end of the Portland series I predicted that it would be Dallas and San Antonio in the WCC. San Antonio winning in 6. I now have been swayed to believe it will be Dallas in 7. What does Dallas need to do to stay in these games? Tell Chuck I said "what's up?".

 --Samantha Thompson, Sherman, TX

A) The Mavericks can't get behind again by 18 points. They need to keep the game close.

They need to slow Tony Parker down in the lane with his penetration. Also don't let Parker score 20. When he does, the Spurs are tough to beat.

Raef and Shawn need to stay out of foul trouble. They need to block out and rebound.

And then the Mavericks just need to hang around. The Spurs stink in the 4th quarter of close games. Hang around and take Game 2.

Q) Hey Newy, I listen to your show everyday and I just wanted to ask one simple question. If the Mavs go on and win the finals, do you think they would still pursue possible big men such as P.J. Brown or Alonzo Mourning or you think they will stay put with the team?

 --Danny Meeks, Lone Oak, TX

A) Yes, they must improve the team. Rebounding has been a problem and this summer they can address it.

The need some post players who don't need to have the ball all the time. That's why I'm stumping for Brown and Mourning.

You always have to get better because the next man is. The Spurs will get better this offseason by dumping David Robinson's 10 million and Steve Smith money too. They will bring a big name player.

Q) Newy, Why has Dallas been the victim of not being able to see the Mavericks play on TV? This is the first time in my life that major playoff games have been blacked out. Did the NBA make a deal with TNT, or is this a money deal with the Mavericks owner? Sellouts of games have always been shown to the public! Someone is now snubbing the people that are handicapped, (young, old) home shut-ins, and people like myself, that are able to afford to pay for a satellite, but won't be blackmailed into buying for greed! I have had cable and did not care for it. I would just as soon spend my forty dollars seeing movies that are much newer at Blockbusters. Cable and pay TV started out to be shown without commercials. You see how long that lasted. Are the Cowboys, Stars, and Rangers next? Very Concerned, Robert

 --roger geer, fort worth, TX

A) It is not just Dallas. The Eastern Conference Finals are on cable too, ESPN.

The NBA is now a cable sport. Pure and simple. They got more money from TNT and Disney (owners of ABC & ESPN).

Mark Cuban is one of the owners who approved the deal, but this is David Stern's baby.

It's not about sellouts like football. This is just how the NBA playoffs will be from now on.

The NFL is already doing some of this with the NFL Sunday Ticket.

Q) http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playoffs2003/story?id=1556541 I'm sure after reading this article you will see why its ridiculous. I cant believe the wording used in this article, and its on espn.com to boot! You would figure the article was proof read before being slapped on the .com site. Anyhow, love the show guys. Coop, stop drinking the "haterade" GO MAVS GO!! Jaime Lopez Fort Worth, TX

 --rogert geer, fort worth, TX

A) Hey, I'm sure it was written from an AP guy in San Antonio.

Q) Newy, I'm an avid listener to the show and think that you and Chuck make a great team. Q: I was trying to find an explanation for the Mavs sinking 49 of 50 last night...unbelievable (even for the Mavs). Do you think it had anything to do with the stadium design in San Antonio? I'm watching that game last night and it looked that there aren't any seats behind the backboard. Would having no one back there waving things everywhere make that much of a difference? Just wanted your thoughts on this theory. Keep up the positive thoughts...and tell Chuck to stick to his beliefs (despite the hunger it will result in).

 --Randy Groves, Irving, TX

A) Jon,

Great question. I think the Mavericks just had one of those magically nights at the line.

Just like the 83 1st half points in Game 2 against the Kings. Some things you just can't explain. You get that feeling.

Add in the fact, they are the best free throwing shooting team in the NBA you can see them putting together a performance like that.

Q) Newy, I am a new listener to the show, but I cannot change the channel, I love ESPN radio. My thought was, since the LPGA is determined to find the world's best FEMALE golfer, and the PGA is just out to find the best golfer, why don't the men (who are so against her playing) go on strike. The ratings would drop so fast, the PGA could not handle it, and would eventually cease to exist. Or, if they choose not to protest, why dont they form a new tour, let's say the MPGA, and only allow men to play?

 --Renee James, Dallas, TX

A) The PGA players have nothing to worry about. The best, even the so-so players don't have to worry about her. She can't beat them week in and week out.

She will not play with them full time. Annika said that already.

The PGA Tour is established and the best of the golf tours in the world. Leaving to start another tour is crazy.

Check out the mess CART and The IRL are in trying to split the Indy Car series.

Q) I feel like I have been on a Six Flags ride for weeks. I get pissed when they fall behind by 14, 18, 20, etc. I throw the remote control and then turn it back on 5-minutes later. I am NOT a big time fan. I have enjoyed the Mavs ever since Mark Cuban purchased the team, but I never thought they would get this far. Although I thought they would lose against the Kings, I feel they have a better match-up with the Spurs. I hope they win, but I can't hardly watch...I need to buy stock in Rolaids James Egloff

 --Mike Wolff, Alvarado, TN

A) You are not alone. You are not alone. I am right there with ya! They make you sweat, curse, and cheer all in the same game.

Q) Hey Newy, Do we plan the parade, or do we leave it up to Charles???????

 --Gav1274@aol.com

A) No doubt. I really got a kick out of Charles. But hey, he's been wrong plenty of time about the Mavericks.

Check out my Dawgbytes column on Chucky.
