My Dawg. The Titans are an intangible team. They are as tough as they come on both sides of the football. Derrick Mason is not a bad WR for Steve McNair and I like Tyrone Calico to stretch the field. Their defense is the real deal Holyfield.
As far as Philadelphia is concerned, excellent questions but your boy Freddie Mitchell is a bust. I didn't have him rated high coming into the draft. However, Philly made it to the Championship game after they loss Jeremiah Trotter a year ago and I think Hugh Douglas was a big loss but not a huge one. Which teams are you picking?
Let's talk AUBURN. We have to agree to disagree. You won't find a better quartet of RB's anywhere and their defense will compliment the offense. You have to remember: Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama are extremely young & in transition. It's the year of the War Eagle.
You have it going on Newy!! Look out for my magazine in the future:)

I want to see how Jevon Kearse comes back from injury. If he can rush the passer, that's gonna be tremendous for them. They made a great pick in Rein Long in the 4th round. The D-line could be very, very good.
I hate the loss of Randall Godfrey. The Titans hung that man out to dry.
The wideouts scare me. Eddie George needs to be healthy too.
My guy Freddie needs a new team. He's got too much talent to be on the pine like he is. I don't get it at all.
I haven't picked a team for the Super Bowl yet.
I am not down on Auburn's talent at all.
I just don't think they can run the table in the SEC. Casey Clausen might decide to have a Carson Palmer type year at beat the Tigers October 4th at Old Rocky Top. Heck, SC might even knock them off in the first game of the year.
Does Tommy Tuberville look like a NCAA championship coach? Is he a Stoops, Tressel, or Joe Pa?

What's up Newy? Enough of NBA talk. Let's talk football.
Check out my site for the Preseason NFL & College Football rankings.
I have Philly vs. Tennessee in the Super Bowl & Oklahoma vs. Auburn for the National Championship game.
Your thoughts?

Who is catching the football for the Titans? They need more players at the receiver spot, in my opinion.
I need to see some guys make more players for Donovan as well with Philly. When's my boy Freddie Mitchell gonna show up? Will they replace Hugh Douglas' pass rusher and respect in the locker room?
The run game must be better.
Never trust Auburn. It's so tough to run the table in the SEC too. I do like OU. A healthy Jason White could take them to New Orleans.

Sir,
How did we miss out on Michael Olowakandi for the mid-level exception??? 3 years 16 million is what Minnesota paid him to sign.
Was he that far out of reach or out of our plans?

I don't know. The Mavericks messed up watching this guy go to a division team.
I'm upset as a season ticket holder.

Newy, The Mavs are really screwed right now. Second straight year of bad luck in free agency. But here's my idea: send Nash and Fin to Portland for Rasheed, Mcinnis, and Woods. I think the Blazers would do it. And don't expect Dirk and Steve to go talk to free agents, they're at the bar now

I saw the photo. Look, you can find a bunch of photo with athletes clowning with fans at a bar.
The thing about it that irks me is, the guy who released it. Now if Dirk and Steve say no way to having their photos taken, they are jerks. But they clown around with this guy and now they are made to look like lushes.
The Portland deal you just put up is one to think about. Just for the fact you can get rid of Finley's money. Rasheed's money comes off the books after this summer so I can't see why Portland would do the deal. Next year's crop of free agents is great.

Q)
Newy,
A source has confirmed that Alonzo Mourning and Jason Kidd will sign with the New Jersey Nets. Zo's contract is 4 years /$20M. Of course these two signings make the Nets the instant favorite to win the East again but I think a healthy Mourning makes the Nets a strong "championship" contender. Here's my question---Now that Zo is staying in the East what does that mean for Dallas & San Antonio? Which unsigned free agent out there will either Dallas or SA go after? Thanks man and keep up the good work.

Dallas is really up the creek when it comes to free agency right now.
They won't get anybody they want. The Spurs are going after the same guys the Mavericks want and the Spurs don't have to get into any sign and trade deals. P.J. Brown just spurned both clubs.
The Mavericks will have to give something up to get a Brad Miller.
Is Brad Miller "the answer". Not really, but he beats the weak effort Shawn Bradley and Raef LaFlop...err...LaFrentz give the Mavericks.
Bad offseason for the Mavericks so far.

Q)
NewDawg,
Why is not there any interest on Michael Olowokandi, Robert Horry, or Scottie Pippen??? All we hear about in Alonzo Mourning. Is there any body we can sign for the lower amount like LA did with Karl Malone?
--dominguezjason8@yahoo.com
|
A)
Looks like Robert Horry is the hot man for the Mavericks. You know, the same Robert Horry who average 6 points for the Lakers and they same Robert Horry they cut because they didn't want to pay.
I don't see how they can get the Kandi man without a sign and trade.
Scottie Pippen, I just don't see it.

Q)
If this is what Jason wants....(read below quote from NY post)..then we don't want him.! comments?
"The Mavs called at midnight July 1. The Spurs put out the red-carpet treatment and wined and dined him for the past two days. But what did the Nets do? As Jason Kidd's two-day, whirlwind free-agent tour of San Antonio wound down yesterday, a source familiar with the All-Star's family claimed Kidd and his wife Joumana were disappointed the Nets did not make a bigger splash when negotiating began last week. The question is, what could the Nets have done?" New York Post

Hey, I don't know what kind of people the Kidd's are. Maybe they wanted to feel a whole lot of love in Jersey like they got in San Antone.
But keep in mind you are reading the N.Y. Post. This is not the paper you should look to for "truth". They are the same folks who tried to stir up rumors that Mets catcher Mike Piazza was gay....that Kidd wanted Byron Scott fired, so don't take anything you read there as gospel.
