Q)
Mr. Scruggs,
There is something the media has never gotten that Jerry Jones has always known
The most important thing in an entertainment business is not to be ignored
Whether the Cowboys are winning or the Cowboys are losing
As long as they are writing about the Cowboys Jerry Jones is winning and in the long run so are the Cowboys.
In the last 5 or 6 years when a player from another team wants to be traded where do they want to be traded too?
Not Arizona
Why does a Tank Johnson or TO want to come here
They know two things one they will be on stage and two if they do well they will get paid
Either by the Cowboys or something else.
Now that they are good again in a mediocre NFL he needs to strike
Remember they are building a 1bb stadium next year and I believe he is spending a lot of his own money
Sure in the short run, it could be a problem
But honestly a team with T.O., Tank Williams and now Pacman
And a quarterback that Dates Jessica Simpson
With all you media types
Questioning how Mendenhall or Jones will sit on the bench better behind barber
Or how the Cowboys reached for Walden or how Danny Amendola is the next Wes Welker.
You people in the media think you’re in the NFL.
Your really in the NFLE, National Football League of Entertainment
The ultimate reality show.
And with all the criticism, Jones has always known it even when the media and coaches didn’t

Mike,
Thanks for the thoughts. Your words are spoken like a man who lives close to Hollywood.
Be well.

Newy: I think your issues with Jerry cloud your judgment. First, let the distractions happen early and let the team get used to it. By the time the playoffs hit, the additional attention won't be a distraction. Second, when Jerry is happy, everyone is happy--don't you have a boss?

I love Jerry Jones. We get along great.
I think he's too much of a promoter instead of a football man. He won titles with a football man, Jimmy Johnson.
TV cameras are nice for attention, but they don't win playoff games. All the pub in the world will take place for his franchise if they make it to the Super Bowl.

Newy:
The Key word to your story comes from the title of your article, MAY!
Yes, the Cowboys MAY suffer. Yes, Romo MAY get hurt by Jessica. Yes, TO
MAY blow out his Achilles.
The key word, May May May May.
If you continue writing articles like this one, you MAY not have a job!
Tell us something that has teeth, not opinions based on mere speculation.
Mike.

Funny stuff Mike.
The beauty of sports is we all have opinions.
How about this for "teeth", they did this show in 2002 and Jerry Jones looked like an egomaniac, Dave Campo came across as a weak head coach who wasn't allowed to cut his own players because the owner wanted to be on camera doing that job, and oh by the way, that club went 5 and 11.
This club went 13-3 in the regular season and forgot to get ready for the playoffs and lost in the first round at home back in January.
Do they really need to be on a reality TV show?

very is greatly to blame for the Josh Howard situation that became a poison to him and this team. Because of Avery's tolerance for Howard's nonsense, the wrong guy lost his job. Avery allowed the situation to fester and may have lost this team because of it. In addition to his horribly poor play, Howard's total disrespect for his teammates, his coach, and the NBA in general should have been enough for Avery and Cuban to park his butt on the bench and leave it there. Instead, he was allowed to start 3 more playoff games probably to the frustration of Dirk and others. The resulting problems became the albatross around Avery's neck. They must find a way to deal with this guy and move forward. ---Gary

Q)
Has there been any talk about moving Roy to linebacker? His playing weight has to be 230lbs. I mean the guy has the size and speed to play the weakside and he's never been one to shy away from contact.
Also have you heard anything on the wide receiver rumors that Dallas may trade one of it's first round picks to Detroit for the other Roy or that they may be interested in Chad Johnson?
--dyt933@epix.net

A)
Solid questions Joe.
The Cowboys have no plans to make Roy a linebacker. He's gonna have to get back to his old form or he'll be elsewhere in 2009.
The club plans to work on some things with Roy in the OTA's.
I don't see the Bengals trading Chad Johnson. They have paid him over 20 million the last two years and old school owner Mike Brown is not just going to let him get away.
Let's say the Bengals did trade Chad for a 1st round draft pick. Are they a better football club? No.
They won't get equal quality. You saw that with Minnesota when they traded Randy Moss to the Raiders and you saw the Raiders get zero for Moss when they shipped him to New England.
The Lions have no reason to move Roy Williams yet.

I like your mock draft -- The Chiefs love Branden Albert & I believe he'll be a Top 10 pick! The Ravens drafted mammoth tackle Jared Gaither in the supplemental draft last season, so he'll step in for Ogden. They'll go CB. Devin Thomas #12? That's pretty high! I enjoy all your work. Thanks and take care

I will come out with a new mock this week. I wanted to get one out. I'll follow up with a 2.0 by Wednesday.

Q)
Newy - Long time no talk. What areas of need do you think the Cowboys will address with their 1st 3 picks? My mock has them taking RB Felix Jones (#22), WR Devin Thomas (#28), and CB Tracy Porter (#61)....I know Thomas is vastly moving up draft boards, but late 1st is where I have him. If they can get him it will make up for not drafting Dwayne Bowe last year. Of course Pac Man Jones situation dictated my mock. I think Porter is a very good value pick in Rd 2 & will be an upgrade over any nickel CB's Dallas has had in the past. Thanks!

Johnny!!!! I miss you man!! I think Devin Thomas will be gone by the 28th pick. Jones is good at 22. I really like that.
Porter could be nice at 61 as well. Good stuff. As always.

Not a question but just wanted to say "finally" someone else who isn't afraid to admit that TCU basketball is an afterthought. Maybe someone should forewarn any potential new coach before his life gets ruined like Coach Dougherty's almost did. Fortunately the man is full of class and intelligence. He'll do well anywhere. TCU is impossible to coach at. It's all about football.

TCU has work to do in mens hoops. Some fans don't want to hear that.
The school has a tremendous football program, but the hoops side of things for the men has been bad.
Some games they didn't even have a band in the stands. Some promotions to get students to the games would help. They could upgrade the schedule and bring in some high profile teams.
They need better players. Right now players aren't coming to play for the Frogs.
They have work to do. I hope they get it done.
